Shopping for fees is not a problem so long as you are comparing the fees of lawyers
who regularly practice in a particular area of law. There are some lawyers
who are traditionally called "general practitioners", who take cases in various
areas of law. The problem is that the bargain-basement fee you find with them
only includes the very minimum level of service. There is alot at stake in
your case, and these lawyers can not represent you to the same degree as an attorney
who focusses his or her practice.
I am proud of the fact that my fees vary depending on the nature of all the circumstances
of your case. I do not take a cookie-cutter approach to my client's situation.
I dig in deep and probe for possibilities. The case law governing DUI's can
be complex, yet this complexity can be used to your advantage by an attorney who
is extrememly conversant in those laws.
